Caris and Bruno's wedding at GreenTee Country Club at Westwood Plateau was such a fun day to photograph. The day started with Caris and her girls, who looked amazing in their soft pastel dresses.
After that, Caris and Bruno had their first look before we spent some time taking portraits together. The weather stayed cloudy throughout the day, which gave us really soft light and made for some beautiful portraits both inside and outside around the venue.
After the ceremony, the day moved into speeches, dinner and plenty of emotion before everyone eventually made their way to the dance floor. We finished the night with a few more photos of Caris and Bruno. By then, the pressure of the day was gone and they were just being themselves. Those ended up being some of my favourite photos from the day.
Getting Ready with Caris and Her Girls
The morning started with Caris and her girls getting ready together.
I loved the soft pastel colours they chose for their dresses. We kept things pretty relaxed and took some time for a few fun photos together before the rest of the day got started.
the first look
Before the ceremony, Caris and Bruno had their first look. It was nice having a little time together before everything got busy. There were some nerves at first, but once they saw each other, you could see the excitement settle in.
We also used this time to get some portraits done before the ceremony, which meant we didn't have to rush through everything later in the day.
A Few Fun Photos Before the Ceremony
Before heading into the ceremony, we spent a little more time with Caris and her girls.
The pastel dresses looked great against the surroundings, so we took advantage of it and had some fun with a few different photos. Nothing too serious, just letting everyone relax and enjoy themselves.
The Wedding Ceremony
After the first look and portraits, it was time for the ceremony. There were plenty of little moments throughout the ceremony that I wanted to make sure I caught, from the anticipation before Caris walked in to the reactions, vows and first kiss.
I always try to photograph more than just what is happening at the front. There are usually just as many good moments happening in the crowd, whether it's a parent getting emotional or someone quietly laughing with the person beside them.
Bride and Groom Portraits at Westwood Plateau
One of my favourite parts of the day was getting some time with Caris and Bruno for their portraits.
The weather stayed cloudy, which gave us really soft light. We took some photos inside and then headed outside to use some of the grounds around Westwood Plateau.
I don't like portraits to feel like a long list of poses. I'll give you some direction when you need it, but I also want there to be plenty of room for you to just be yourselves. Walking around, talking, laughing and those little moments in between usually end up being some of my favourite photos.
Caris and Bruno made that part pretty easy. They were comfortable together and didn't take themselves too seriously, which gave us a really nice mix of portraits and candid moments.
Reception & Celebration
After the ceremony, everyone settled into the reception and the day took on a different energy.
There were some really nice family and candid moments early on, followed by speeches that brought plenty of laughs and a few emotional moments too. I always enjoy photographing this part of the day because there is so much happening beyond the person giving the speech. The reactions from the couple, their family and friends often tell just as much of the story.
Later in the evening, everyone made their way onto the dance floor and things got a lot more relaxed. This is usually when I like to get right into the middle of the action and photograph what's happening as it happens. Lots of movement, lots of laughs and a few questionable dance moves along the way.
